Learning to live, Learning to shine.

Beaconside C of E Primary School & Acorn Nursery

“Let your light so shine before others that they may see your good works” (Matthew 5:16)

Welcome to Beaconside Church of England Primary School & Acorn Nursery

The children, staff and governors of Beaconside are incredibly proud to welcome you to our school website. We hope it gives you a true sense of our values, our vibrant learning community, and the care we give to every child.

We are a large, family-focused school with a long-standing connection to our community—many of our parents, grandparents, and even members of staff began their own educational journeys right here at Beaconside. Our facilities and grounds may be extensive, but our ethos remains deeply personal: every child is known, valued, and nurtured as an individual.

Our Beacon Curriculum is carefully designed to give every child the knowledge, skills and experiences they need to live life in all its fullness. Through inspiring teaching, engaging topics, residential trips, outdoor learning, and specialist lessons in Sport and Music, we aim to nurture curiosity, creativity, confidence and character.

While we are ambitious in our expectations, we are equally committed to inclusion, wellbeing and kindness. We celebrate success across a wide range of areas—academic achievement, sporting excellence, musical performance, personal growth, and the values our children live out every day.

Our school is at the heart of the community with strong links to the United Parish of Penrith, especially St Andrew’s Church. We believe education is a shared responsibility between school, families and the wider community. Our dedicated governing body and committed families all play an important part in making Beaconside a special place to learn and grow.

We were extremely proud to receive an EXCELLENT judgement in our SIAMs inspection in 2022 and receive a report that recognised the exceptional work of our team.  In particular, we all enjoyed reading the comment that ‘Pupils are a credit to the school. They are thoughtful, kind and supportive of each of others showing real friendship'

Although we do not place a significant emphasis on OFSTED inspections, our school has continued to remain GOOD for the last 10 years. Our most recent inspection in 2024 highlighted what it means to be a child at Beaconside including the high aspirations we have for our children and how well they achieve.

If you would like to visit Beaconside Church of England Primary School or Acorn Nursery, we would be delighted to welcome you. We are always happy to show prospective families the warm, caring environment, fantastic facilities and excellent learning opportunities we offer our children.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or would like to arrange a visit.

Thank you for visiting our website — we look forward to meeting you and sharing what it means to be part of the Beaconside family.
