Children will visit Tullie house at the beginning of Year 4 in a bid to learn more about the Ancient Egyptians to compliment the learning take place in class. They will then take their knowledge of Egypt and use it as an introduction to modern day Egypt. This geography theme will allow the children to build on learning in Key stage 1 about agriculture and learn more specifically about arable farming. This will include a visit to Mungrisdale where they will be treated to a talk from an Ernest trust expert. In the Spring term, the children will learn all about the Amazon rainforest. This will then be taken wider and the children will be given an opportunity to learn more about Brazil and within textiles, make wings that they can use as part of their very own, Rio-inspired, carnival. The Summer will see the children do an in-depth study of the Romans focusing on their impact within the local area. This will include a two night residential at Birdoswald and also a hike along Hadrian's wall (not all 84 miles!) Another key experience in this year is canoeing at Derwent Water.
